German ship was coming from Aqaba with a phosphate cargo when it hits the reef of the Laguna in 1984 due to navigation error.

Laguna Reef is one of the most quite dives when it's really crowded in straits of Tiran. It's a nice gentle slope with very colorful corals. the current may vary from slight to strong sometimes but even when it's strong you have no chance to drift away from the reef. Good chance for Sharks observation.Leopard shark & white tip reef shark. possible to find a shark sleeping down on the sandy plateau.
Woodhouse is generally dived as a drift along the reef's eastern side. The current is usually moderate, but can pick up speed at certain phases of the Moon, particularly toward the northern channel between Woodhouse and Jackson. Care should be taken not to get pulled around the point here, as you could be swept off the reef into the main shipping lane. Coral cover is excellent throughout the reef, with dense growth all over; there are a few sandy patches at depths of around 20m.
Thomas Reef is the smallest reef in the strait of Tiran. it's a circle form that you may reach your start point if the conditions are suitable for that. it's a drift dive one of the best in Tiran for early morning dives when the current is strong or for a lovely calm afternoon dive. Good visibility it's one of the best places to visit in straits of Tiran. and off course we'll never forget to have a look on the canyon which starts at 35 meters deep down to 70+. Most of the dive is a wall down to 30 meters and then slopes out. Great for shark observation (If we are lucky enough).Very colorful corals. No Human Impacts.
Right here in a moring or drift dive you still have the opportunity to observe different corals, nudibranchs and whitetip reef sharks, hummerhead with more luck or spotted eagle rays.

Sodfa is immediately northeast of the much more popular Tower, The dive leads along a sandy slope at an average depth of about 12 meters, between the reef ledge and the drop-off between 18 and 22 meters.
On the sandy slope some coral pinnacles rise up whereas at the near the drop-off you will see some large gorgonians at a depth of 20 to 22 meters.
Tower is a spectacular dive site charcterized by a deep canyon whose walls descend verically for over 120 meters.
On 15 meters deep, you will reach the edge of a large slightly inclined sandy plateau that runs at a depth of 12 to 15 meters and that has some coral pinnacles.Explore the crevices and caves, one of which has a school of glassfish.
A depth of 5 to 20 meters is the most interesting for observing the fauna of the site.
Pinky Wall is the first of a long series of diving sites between Tower and Ras Umm Sid. Strangely enough, despite the sheer beauty of this wall dive site which was named after the multitude of pink alcyonarian corals, there are very few guides who know pinky wall and take divers there.
The name of this site derives from seventeens century shipwreck of a Turkish vessel with a cargo of amphoras containing mercury.
A sandy slope that begins at a depth of 12 meters and has some coral pinnacles of various shapes that create a sort of magnificicent garden.
Current can be strong and limited visibilty
Turtle Bay lies immediately south of amphoras and its topographical cofiguration is quite similar, a slope that runs at adepth of 10 to 26 meters and on which some coral pinnacles stand.

Paradise conformation is similar to Amphoras and turtle bay. Paradise differs in the taller coral pinnacles that rise on the slope between the reef ledge and the drop-off. Here these towers look like pieces of sclupture with a variety of hues due to the growth of red, pinkish and yellow alcyonarians.The overall effect is magnificent environment that is unique in its kind.
Ras Umm Sid is the name of the promotory with a high lighthouse that marks the beginning of the strait of Tiran on the western coast. The dive site is easily accesible by land. It is renowned for the extraordinary proliferation of gorgonians that create a veritable forest here, the most beautiful in all the northern red sea.
There may be strong currents, specially near the cape.
The Temple lies in the middle of large bay between Ras Umm Sid and Ras Katy that is bordered by a tall cliff of fossil coral.
On a vast sandy plateau at a depth of 6 to30 meters tere are three coral pillars that resemble the coloumns of an ancient temple.
Ras Katy is a few hundred meters west of temple and in some respects has a similar configuration.Since this site is well sheltered from prevailing winds we can moor our boat there easy with no problems.Dives are made at the coral pinnacle colonized by small table corals and raspberry corals which rises almost up to the surface. The sandy seabed is slightly inclined starting from an initial depth of 5 meters to 20 meters at a point on line with the drop-off, where there are some gorgonians.
Ras Za'atar is the rocky promonotry which delimits the deep bay of Marsa Bareika to the south. The dive starts at a coral pinnacle with a table coral situated at a depth of 21 meters and winds along the gergeous wall which descends vertically. the wall is decorated by colourful alcyonarians and lovely gorgonians . on 15 meters deep there is spectacular chimneys which begins at this depth and narrow towards the surface where they open into the reef platform where you can see the rays of the sun penetrate the recesses.Creating spectacular effects.

Ras Burg is certainly less spectacular than Ras Za'atar but it's wall has a similar configuration, and it offers the double advantage of not yet being crowded and is practically intact.
Ras Burg is suitable dive site for small groups of scuba divers.
excellent site for photographers, especially at midday when the sun is in the zenith.

the name of this iste derives from the wide sandy road between the coral ledge bordering the coast and parallel satellite reef that is often frequented by jackfish and other predators. Jackfish Alley was originally known as fisherman's bank.
Only small groups of expert divers are allowed to explore the caves.
Very few scuba divers visit eel garden which is nonetheless vey interesting from the biological point of view.
The dive is extremely easy and route winds through the sandy plateau slightly inclined to the east opposite the beach.
On the central part of the sandy ledge there is a small cave out of which appears to flow an impressive V-shaped stream of sand.
The middle section of the plateau is populated by a lovely colony of Garden eels can exceed 80 centimeters in length.

The reef begins in just 5 meters of water and drops off into oblivion, and it's great place to swim with some of siai's larger inhabitants' such as: wrasses and occasionally sea turtles.

Yolanda wreck is a cypriot merchant ship that sank here on the night of 1 to 2 april 1980 while on its way to aqaba loaded with containers, bathtubs, sanitary fixtures, wallpaper, cases of whisky and even a BMW 320 automobile that belonged to the ship captain.
